Jim Condron- Art Exhibit Event






An event I attended recently was “Picking up the Pieces: Work by Jim Condron.” This particular event was an art exhibit held at the Julio Fine Arts Gallery at Loyola University Maryland. I found this event to be very interesting in that it was very colorful and definitely caught my attention, with one piece after the other being shown on displayed. The art exhibit ran from October 27th through November 22nd, 2017. 

The show showed around 35 pieces of Condron’s artwork, which the artist takes everyday pieces, and turns them into unexpected sculptures and paintings. His main use of medium is paint mixed with fragments. Condron takes the conventional and turns it into the unconventional, surprising viewers with unexpected creations. His use of color, texture and form really show through his artwork and pull the viewer in wanting to know the story behind such a creation. He tests the limits and goes beyond safe, creating talk worthy pieces. 


His show at the gallery was by the far the most interesting one I have attended and definitely one I wont forget. The bright colors and everyday objects created into unexpected creations was very cool and intriguing.I highly recommend going to a Jim Condron art exhibit if there is one near by or coming up because his work won't disappoint and will bring happiness and creativity.

After reading the Postmodernism article, I was confused because I did not first understand what the article was about, I knew it had to deal with postmodernism artists but I felt like I had to re read it in order to truly understand in what I thought the article meant. Ways of Seeing

It is natural that seeing comes before words. We recognize things first before we put a word to it. I find it very interesting and pretty fascinating that the way we see things affects what we believe or what we know. Each person perceives things differently and that has an affect because two people may look at a painting and have totally different outcomes. But with two totally different outcomes it causes conversation and helps people view things in ways they may never had, had viewed it before. Even though the article states that when images are presented as a work of art, people have a pre notion of what to except or learnt assumption of art. But in my opinion I believe that even though people may have pre assumptions of art works, it still can change once that person actually physically sees the actual artwork. Tufte - Escaping Flatland

Ever since I started to appreciate art and fell in love with it, what annoyed me though was how to read more dimensions in my drawings and paintings. I love creating images but it always frustrated me on how to make my designs more appealing and draw the viewer in. As I grew older and learned more techniques on how to create an image with more dimensions my frustrations slowly started to disappear because now I could truly appreciate the hard work that goes into making a picture. Drawing on a two dimensional flatland is hard and it not easy to turn it into a three dimensional piece. Detail, percision and accuracy are just some of the ways into making sure a three dimensional image is created.
