This painting made me feel as if I was standing under one of those trees with the breeze swaying back and forth gazing out to the stream. 2.) Henri Matisse French, 1869-1954 Girl Reading, Vase of Flowers 1922 Oil on canvas Composition- Golden Triangle and L-Shapes Henri Matisse often incorporated flowers in vases in his paintings contrasting patterns which were always in perfect union of lines and colors. The vase of flowers pop out of the painting and immediately your eye is drawn to it, as the women sitting in the chair is set back and seen as second compared to the flowers. The women in the chair seems rather sad as her arm is holding her

Ways of Seeing

It is natural that seeing comes before words. We recognize things first before we put a word to it. I find it very interesting and pretty fascinating that the way we see things affects what we believe or what we know. Each person perceives things differently and that has an affect because two people may look at a painting and have totally different outcomes. But with two totally different outcomes it causes conversation and helps people view things in ways they may never had, had viewed it before. Even though the article states that when images are presented as a work of art, people have a pre notion of what to except or learnt assumption of art. But in my opinion I believe that even though people may have pre assumptions of art works, it still can change once that person actually physically sees the actual artwork. After watching the video I was intrigued by what John Berger said, “Perspective makes the eye the center of the visible world…” Th

Visibilty

After reading the chapter Visibility, it took me several times to re read what I was reading, because I did not understand how this could relate to art or what it meant. The passage starts out with a quote from Dante, (Purgatorio XVII.25) “Then rained down into the high fantasy…” in which I did not understand why this line was taken out of Dante or how it would be related to art in general. Upon further reading, I in my opinion gained more knowledge and realized maybe what Dante was saying was that these images came to him from God and down from heaven as he does state in the text. Dante is trying to understand his imagination and what role it proceeds and how it occurs the visual part of it in his mind. Upon further reading the text discusses that there are two types of imaginative processes in which the first starts with a word then an image appears. The second type of imaginative process starts with the visual image first then with the verbal expression following. It is c

The Whole Ball of Wax

Art in my opinion can change the world in some aspects, especially after reading the first couple of paragraphs art does have an effect on people. Art allows different interpretations to occur which creates people to view artwork in different ways, especially in ways they would’ve never thought about. It does have the power to change the world during crisis or hostel situations especially if powerful photographs were captured during such events and in return can have the chance to stop what’s going on and bring piece to the world. Art can have political meaning, which allows another way for artists to express their ideas and thoughts not just by words but also by different medians of art. Art not only is pretty to look at but it has tons of value to the world because it can make people think of new thoughts and ideas, art creates reasoning. Many people may think art is pretty and there is no meaning behind it or it can’t change the world, but art is just as important a
